Nothing is wrong with it. It has simply stopped being new, and attention moves on. Research on hedonic adaptation describes how quickly our response settles once an experience stops changing, and how deliberately varying that experience can interrupt the settling. A front door is a small, low-stakes place to apply the idea: keep one sign, change one thing on it, and the entry keeps registering as cared for instead of disappearing into the house.

One sign, sixteen changes

A round wooden sign, roughly 30 cm across, with a face made for one small icon at a time.
